We have a Mayday! Twitter Challenge champion!

Hey everyone- If you’ve been watching our Twitter feed, you may have noticed increased Star Defense chatter this week. Well, that was all part of our Mayday! Twitter Challenge. We arranged a competition for the journalists who received preview builds of Star Defense.

The goal was simple: Survive as many waves of S’rath forces in Star Defense challenge mode as humanly possible. On Monday, competitors were tightly packed in the 30s. By Tuesday, IGN’s Levi Buchanan emerged as a front runner when he defeated 100 waves.

Many were prepared to surrender, but Touch Archade’s Eli Hodapp, ArsTechnica’s Chris Foresman, and Pocket Gamer’s Tracy Erickson quickly clustered around Buchanan’s score.

It was Erickson who finally pulled ahead Thursday night with a score of 132. Buchanan tried to catch him but couldn’t best him. You can check out the final scores on the Star Defense website.

Pocket Gamer’s Tracy Erickson is our Mayday! champion. We’re sending him an iPod Touch loaded with ngmoco games for his display of valor and skill in combat.

We’d also like to thank all 11 of our contestants for participating. And don’t worry, the wait for Star Defense is almost over!
